Buying a Camera
Buy your Digi Cam rationally

Photography is an art in itself. If you have the perception then photography can turn into a passion but for standalone pictures you need to possess a good camera. Your ideas could be great but the imperfect camera can mar the details and can make the picture an ordinary one. There are a few factors that should come into question while you purchase a camera.
Know what you want
You just don’t have to keep pressing the click button. You must know why you need a camera. You must have a general idea of the lighting conditions of the place where you would click. Will you be clicking indoors or outdoors is an important factor. You must ask yourself, whether you are adept in photography or you prefer using the auto mode. Before you talk to the retailer you must have an idea of the features that you would like to have in your camera. Along with the features keep in mind the portability you require and the budget that you have for a camera.
Mega pixels
Buying a camera with higher value of mega pixels is not important. If you are buying a camera to capture family events and holidays that can get regular prints and can be uploaded in the various web sites, then a 2 mega pixel camera is sufficient. In case you require large prints of your images then you must go in for purchasing a camera with 5 or more mega pixels.
Extras
You don’t just buy a camera. There are things that are indispensable and have to be purchased along with the camera. Some of the things that I can list here are:
Camera Case, Memory Card, Spare Batteries, Battery Charger, Tripods or Monopods, External Flash and also Lenses if you are buying a DSLR.

You may have some accessories like lenses, batteries or memory cards from your previous Digi Cam. Most accessories are compatible with the the cameras manufactured by the same company.
Optical or Digital Zoom
My experiences with cameras say that an Optical Zoom is the best decision. Mostly cameras have an optical zoom of at least 3x in length. They make the subject three times larger. There are now super zooms available in the market with 12x optical zoom. Digital zooms enlarge the pixels to make the subject look bigger but as the pixels grow the noise increases making the picture blurred ultimately.
These are little details to be considered while buying a digital camera but you can take the final decision only when you have the camera in front of you and when you see through the viewfinder. The best way to make up your mind is to read a lot of reviews on the net and then take the final decision by actually operating the thing with your hands.
