1. Connect the iPod to the computer with the USB cable, as you do to charge your iPod. On connecting iTunes may open and ask you to ‘erase and sync’, click on ‘NO’. If you click on ‘yes’ the songs saved in your iPod would be removed and those that are in your PC would be synced with your iPod.
2. Click on ‘my computer’ and search the iPod drive. In most cases you would get it in the (F:) drive. Even if it’s not there, you can find it out easily. An iPod logo is created which you may locate in the listing of drives on ‘my computer’.
3. Windows vista user- Click on the iPod drive then click ‘organize’. Then ‘folder’ and ‘search options’ tab followed by ‘view’ and enable ‘show hidden files and folders’.
4. Windows XP users- click the iPod drive then click on ‘tools’ followed by folder options then click view tab and enable ‘show hidden files and folders and apply.
5. Now your see a new folder named ‘iPod_control. If you open the folder you see listings like- ‘calender’, ‘Contacts’, ‘iPod_control, notes, photos etc. To transfer music you need to click on the ‘ipod_control folder.
6. When you open the iPod_control folder then click on ‘music’ folder. Folders like F00, F01 would open. You need to copy these folders as they carry your music. Copy them and paste them in a new folder on your desktop.
Now you can add this folder to your iTunes library and sync your iPod to your PC without losing your priced music. So if you have been trying to add your favorite music to your iPod but declined it just because you didn’t wish to lose your existing music, now you can execute this action even.
